Connecting a USB Printer to the USB Host

Printers and Data Storage Devices
The USB host is suitable for connecting one of the following end devices:
• USB memory stick
• USB printer
Important:
The data storage devices used require an EXT4 formatting. For read access
to USB memory sticks, for example for automatic transfer of a configuration,
FAT or FAT32 formatting is also supported.
The connection of a USB hub is not supported.
Connecting a USB Printer to the USB Host
Requirements:
• Minimal distance between the devices (up to 5 m)
• Printer compatible with PCL4 printer language (HP Laserjet)
Note: You can use any printer with at least PCL4 emulation and USB port.
PCL6 or PCL5c emulation is downward compatible and includes PCL4.
• USB cable
Note: The length of the USB cable used may be a maximum of 5 m in total.
If the distance between the printer and the PBX is greater than approx 2 m,
the cable must be laid permanently.
1. Insert one end of the cable into the USB socket on the PBX.
2. Insert the other end of the cable into the USB socket on the printer.
The figure below shows the position of the USB socket on the COMpact 4000
interface board.
