Firmware Update

When firmware is updated, errors are corrected or new features are installed. To do this, the
device establishes a connection to a server in order to download the most current firmware (the
device settings remain intact). Except for the charges for the required server connection, the
update is free of charge.

Firmware Update Variants

There are various options for carrying out a firmware update.
Note:
If you have just performed a firmware update and an error message appears
when you log into the configuration manager, please empty your web
browser's cache or wait for about five minutes before logging in again.
Some of the functional upgrades provided as part of a firmware update
require additional configuration parameters. Sometimes not all these param-
eters can be determined automatically from the previous firmware version.
This is why you need to edit some parts of the configuration manually in this
update type.
If the regular firmware update option has been enabled, the status messages
tell you whether you need to edit the current update manually. Click Update
to download an update for the device firmware from the update server.
The following variants are available:
Manual Firmware Update
In a manual firmware update, a firmware file (*.rom) is downloaded using the configuration
manager to the PBX. The new firmware is then saved in the PBX.
Instant Firmware Updates via the Update Server
When an instant firmware update is enabled via the update server, the firmware update is
initiated automatically. A connection to the update server is set up and then the server sends
the latest firmware to the PBX.
You can perform immediate firmware updates both for the PBX and for the COMfortel system
telephones connected to it.
