For the connection to the network provider, the ports described in the following can be used.
External S Port (See Chapter Important Information > Product Details > Basic Assembly

The external S port is designed for the connection to an NT working according to the European

protocol DSS1 (Euro ISDN). It supports the following connection types:
• Basis access as a PTMP connection
• Basis access as a PTP connection
Furthermore, it is possible to connect to a digital GSM gateway.
External Analogue Port (Optional, See Chapter Important Information > Product Details
> Basic Assembly and Extensions)
The external analogue port is tested in compliance with the former TBR21 standard and
therefore suitable for connecting to public analogue telephone networks across Europe. The
country in which the PBX is operated over an analogue connection must be configured after
the device has been put into operation.
Furthermore, it is possible to connect to an analogue GSM gateway.
Ethernet Port/External VoIP Channel (Upgradeable, See Chapter Important Information
> Product Details > Basic Assembly and Extensions)
When using the VoIP channels externally, the Ethernet port can be connected to the Internet
via a router. The PBX supports two different types of VoIP accounts:
• VoIP accounts with one or more VoIP phone numbers (similar to the PTMP connection on
ISDN)
• VoIP accounts with an extensions block (similar to the PTP connection under ISDN), based
on the SIP-DDI feature (also known as SIP trunking)
Combination of Various Public Networks
The COMpact 4000 series offers the combination of various public networks:
• Analogue connection and VoIP
• ISDN connection and VoIP
• VoIP, analogue and ISDN connection
