External S Port

An external S port is designed for the connection to an NTBA working in accordance with the

European protocol DSS1 (Euro ISDN). It supports the following connection types:
• Basis access as a PTMP connection
• Basis access as a PBX connection
Furthermore, it is possible to connect to a digital GSM gateway.
External Analogue Port
The external analogue port (not a part of the basic assembly) is suitable for connecting to public
analogue telephone networks across Europe. The country in which the PBX is operated over
an analogue connection must be configured after the device has been put into operation.
Germany is the original factory setting.
Furthermore, it is possible to connect to an analogue GSM gateway.
Ethernet Port
Via the Ethernet port, the PBX is connected to a network (for a number of applications) or to a
single PC (only for configuration purposes).
The applications listed at the end do not exclude each other.
For Internet telephony (VoIP), the PBX can be connected to the Internet via a router. The PBX
can manage 100 VoIP accounts for up to 20 different VoIP providers. The PBX supports two
different types of VoIP account:
• VoIP accounts with one or more VoIP phone numbers (similar to the PTMP connection on
ISDN)
• VoIP accounts with an extensions block (similar to the PBX connection under ISDN), based
on the SIP-DDI feature (also known as SIP trunking)
For internal IP telephony, VoIP end devices can be connected to the PBX via a switch/router.
The PBX supports the following end devices (system telephones recommended):
• COMfortel 1200 IP standard telephones
• COMfortel 1400 IP/2600 IP/3600 IP system telephones
• COMfortel 3200/3500 system telephones (firmware version 1.8E, or later)
• IP DECT single- and multi-cell servers COMfortel WS-400 IP and COMfortel WS-650 IP for
COMfortel M-100, COMfortel M-200 and COMfortel M-300 DECT handsets
• Standard VoIP telephones (SIP), e. g. COMfortel 1200 IP)
• Soft phones (SIP)
