Configuring the DNS Server

Internet Access
In order to carry out Voice over IP or functions such as an online name search, the PBX must
be prepared for Internet access by configuring a few settings.
Configuring the DNS Server
A DNS server is necessary for Internet access. The data is specified by the Internet service
provider or system administrator of the network.
Proceed as follows:
• Using the configuration manager
Requirements:
• DHCP disabled or DHCP enabled and Use own DNS server enabled
1. Open the page Administration > IP configuration.
2. In the First DNS server and Second DNS server entry fields under DNS CONFIG-
URATION, enter the IP address for each of the DNS servers. Possible entries:
Four blocks with three digits for IPv4 addresses
Eight blocks with four digits or characters for IPv6 addresses
Note: If you cannot enter a DNS server, the gateway is automatically used
instead.
Further steps:
• Click Test connection, to check functioning of the Internet connection. The PBX will then
send a Ping command to test whether www.google.de can be reached. www.google.de has
been chosen because it can usually be reached.
