LDAP Server

The Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) is a protocol that enables you to query the
data in a directory service (a hierarchical database) over the network.
The PBX's LDAP server is one of the databases based on this protocol. It stores the contact
data for the PBX's central address books. As the LDAP server displays the contact data stored
in the central address books, it can also hold up to 2000 contacts like the address books.
The LDAP server is needed to transfer the PBX's contact data to those IP end devices which
support this transfer method (e.g. IP DECT servers or SIP telephones with LDAP support). Any
contact data that is input directly on a telephone is not transferred to the central address books.
Auerswald provides LDAP support for the following IP end devices:
• IP telephone: COMfortel 1200 IP
• IP telephones: COMfortel 1400 IP/2600 IP/3600 IP (firmware version 2.4A, or later)
• IP-DECT server: COMfortel WS-400 IP, COMfortel WS-650 IP
• IP-DECT handsets: COMfortel M-100/200/210/300/310
By making the appropriate settings on the LDAP server, the administrator or sub-administrator
can specify which contact groups from the central address books are made available to an IP
end device.
Note: The LDAP server's IP address matches the PBX's IP address and is
predefined.

Switching the LDAP Server On/Off

The security and performance of the PBX is improved if the LDAP server is switched off. In this
situation, no contact data can be transferred to the IP end devices.
Proceed as follows:
• Using the configuration manager
1. Open the page User data > Address books > Settings.
2. Select or clear the Activate Server check box.
