Configuring OSPF
Example
This example shows how to enables an OSPF authentication key on VLAN 1 with the password
"yourpass":
Matrix>Router(config)#interface vlan 1
Matrix>Router(config-if(Vlan 1))#ip ospf authentication-key yourpass
ip ospf message digest key md5
Use this command to enable or disable OSPF MD5 authentication on an interface.
Syntax
ip ospf message-digest-key keyid md5 key
no ip ospf message-digest-key keyid

Router command, Interface configuration: Matrix>Router(config‐if(Vlan 1))#
Usage
This command validates OSPF MD5 routing updates between neighboring routers.
The "no" form of this command disables MD5 authentication on an interface.
Example
This example shows how to enable OSPF MD5 authentication on VLAN 1, set the key identifier to
20, and set the password to "passone":
Matrix>Router(config)#interface vlan 1
Matrix>Router(config‐if(Vlan 1))#ip ospf message‐digest‐key 20 md5 passone
distance ospf
Use this command to configure the administrative distance for OSPF routes.
Syntax
distance ospf {external | inter-area | intra-area} weight
no distance ospf
21-30 Routing Protocol Configuration
Specifies the key identifier on the interface where MD5 authentication is
enabled. Valid values are integers from 1 to 255.
Specifies a password for MD5 authentication to be used with the keyid.
Valid values are alphanumeric strings of up to 16 bytes.
