Water chamber: Removal - Refitting

Special tooling required
Mot. 1448 Remote operation pliers for
hose clips.
REMOVAL
I - REMOVAL PREPARATION OPERATION
a Position the vehicle on a two-post lift (see Vehicle:
Towing and lifting) (MR 415, 02A, Lifting equip-
ment).
a Remove:
- the engine cover,
- the air filter box (see 12A, Fuel mixture, Air filter
unit: Removal - Refitting, page 12A-13) ,
- the engine undertray bolts,
- the engine undertray.
a Drain the cooling system (see 19A, Cooling, Cool-
ing system: Draining - Refilling, page 19A-16) .
II - REMOVAL OPERATION FOR PART
CONCERNED
a Unclip the water chamber hose (1) .
a Remove the clips (2) from the water chamber hoses
using the (Mot. 1448).
a Disconnect the hoses (3) from the water chamber.
COOLING
a Disconnect the coolant temperature sensor connec-
tor (4) .
a Remove:
- the water chamber bolts (5) ,
- the water chamber,
- the water chamber seal.
REFITTING
I - REFITTING PREPARATIONS OPERATION
a Clean the pressure face on the cylinder head with
ABRASIVE PADS.
a Degrease the cylinder head pressure face using
SURFACE CLEANER (see Vehicle: Parts and
consumables for the repair) (MR 415, 04B, Con-
sumables - Products) and CLEAN CLOTHS.
a Always replace the water chamber seal.
II - REFITTING OPERATION FOR PART
CONCERNED
a Refit:
- the new water chamber seal.
- the water chamber,

- the water chamber bolts,
a Tighten the water chamber bolts.
a Connect:
- the coolant temperature sensor connector,
