Fuel pressure regulator: Removal - Refitting

IMPORTANT
Consult the safety and cleanliness advice and oper-
ation recommendations before carrying out any
repair (see 13B, Diesel injection, Diesel injec-
tion: Precautions for the repair, page 13B-1) .
WARNING
Once the warranty period for the high pressure
pump has expired, only the pressure regulator can
be replaced separately.
Whilst the warranty period for the high pressure
pump is still running, the high pressure pump
should be replaced as a whole if the pressure regu-
lator displays a fault.
REMOVAL
I - REMOVAL PREPARATION OPERATION
a Disconnect the battery (see Battery: Removal - Re-
fitting) (80A, Battery).
a Remove the front engine cover.

II - OPERATION FOR REMOVAL OF PART
CONCERNED
a Disconnect the fuel pressure regulator connector (1)
.
a Remove:
- the bolts (2) from the fuel pressure regulator,
- the fuel pressure regulator,
- the fuel pressure regulator seal.
a Insert the blanking plugs.
REFITTING
I - REFITTING PREPARATION OPERATION
a part always to be replaced: fuel pressure regula-
tor seal on the injection pump (11,05,10,20).
a Use SURFACE CLEANER (see Vehicle: Parts
and consumables for the repair) (04B, Consum-
ables - Products) to clean the bearing faces of the
fuel pressure regulator.
a Wipe the bearing face of the fuel pressure regulator
on the high pressure pump using a compressed air
nozzle (see 13B, Diesel injection, Diesel injec-
tion: Precautions for the repair, page 13B-1) .
