Injector rail: Removal - Refitting
V9X
OPERATION FOR REFITTING THE
INJECTOR RAIL ON THE BACK ROW
I - REFITTING PREPARATION OPERATION
a Always replace:
- the injector rail seals on the back row,
- the catalytic pre-converter stay studs,
- the turbocharger heat shield nuts,
- the turbocharger heat shield studs if they have
loosened during removal.
WARNING
Do not remove the blanking plugs from each
component until the last moment.
Also, do not remove the components from their
packaging until they are to be fitted to the vehi-
cle.
II - REFITTING OPERATION FOR PART
CONCERNED
a Refit:
- new injector rail seals,
- the injector rail on the back row.
a Fit the injector rail bolts on the back row, without
tightening them.
a Fit the injector rail pressure sensor wiring on the
back row.
a Connect the injector rail pressure sensor connector
on the back row.
III - FINAL OPERATION
a Refit:
- the high pressure pipe between the rails (see 13B,
Diesel injection, High pressure pipe between
rails: Removal - Refitting, page 13B-184) ,
- the high pressure pipes between the rail and injec-
tor on the back row (see 13B, Diesel injection,
High pressure pipe between rail and injector:
Removal - Refitting, page 13B-161) .
a Torque tighten the injector rail bolts on the back
row (25 N.m).
a Refit:
- the injector rail protector on the front row (see 13B,
Diesel injection, Injector rail protector: Remov-
al - Refitting, page 13B-126) ,
DIESEL INJECTION
13B-202
- the damper valve strut.
a Position the fuel supply and return pipes on the
damper valve strut.
a Clip the fuel supply and return pipes onto the damp-
er valve strut.
a Refit the damper valve (see 12A, Fuel mixture,
Damper valve: Removal - Refitting, page 12A-39)
.
a Torque tighten the new turbocharger studs (13
N.m) if they were loosened during removal.
a Refit:
- the turbocharger strut.
- the turbocharger heat shield.
a Fit:
- the rigid cooling pipe of the exhaust fuel injector
cooler to the catalytic pre-converter,
- the rigid cooling pipe of the exhaust fuel cooler to
the turbocharger.
a Refit:
- the nut for the rigid cooling pipes of the exhaust
fuel injector cooler on the catalytic pre-converter,
- the upper stay of the catalytic pre-converter.
a Fit the nut of the catalytic pre-converter upper stay
without tightening it.
a Refit the lower stay of the catalytic pre-converter.
a Fit the nuts of the lower stay to the upper stay with-
out tightening them.
a Torque tighten the studs of the catalytic pre-con-
verter stay on the cylinder block and on the gear-
box (8 N.m).
a Fit without tightening:
- the nuts of the lower stay on the cylinder block and
on the gearbox,
- the nuts of the lower stay on the catalytic pre-con-
verter.
a Tighten to torque:
- the catalytic pre-converter upper stay nut (21
N.m),
- the lower stay nuts on the upper stay (21 N.m),
- the lower stay nuts on the cylinder block and on
the gearbox (21 N.m),
- the nuts of the lower stay on the catalytic pre-
converter (21 N.m).
a Clip the crankshaft position sensor wiring onto the
lower stay of the catalytic pre-converter.
