High pressure pump: Removal - Refitting
K9K, and 780
a Tighten:
- the rail protector bolt,
- the rail protector nuts.
a Refit the rail protector drain pipe.
a Fit the injection wiring on the rail protector.
a Refit the injection wiring bracket nut.
a Tighten the injection wiring bracket nut.
a Clip on the injection wiring clip.
a Connect:
- the fuel temperature sensor connector,
- the flow regulation solenoid valve connector,
- the pressure regulation solenoid valve connector,
- the diesel injector connectors,
- the heater plug connectors.
a Remove and discard the blanking plugs from:
- the fuel pipes,
- the high pressure pump.
a Connect the following pipes:
- the diesel injector fuel return rail pipes,
- for the high pressure pump supply.
a Refit:
- the dipstick well,
- the dipstick well bolts.
a Tighten the dipstick well bolts.
a Refit:
- the dipstick,
- the injector rail protector cover,
- the injector rail protector cover nut,
- the injector rail protector cover bolt.
a Tighten:
- the injector rail protector cover nut,
- the injector rail protector cover bolt.
a Clip on the injector rail protector cover.
a Fit:
- the intercooler air inlet pipe,
- the clip on the intercooler inlet air pipe in its original
position.
a Clip the intercooler air inlet pipe on the turbocharger.

a Refit:
- the nut on the intercooler air inlet pipe,
- the bolt on the intercooler air inlet pipe.
a Tighten:
- the nut on the intercooler air inlet pipe,
- the bolt on the intercooler air inlet pipe.
a Clip the electrical wiring to the injector rail protector
cover.
a Connect:
- the camshaft position sensor connector,
- the damper valve connector,
- the intercooler air outlet pipe to the damper valve.
a Tighten the clip on the intercooler outlet pipe.
a Refit:
- the timing belt (see 11A, Top and front of engine,
Timing belt: Removal - Refitting, page 11A-50) ,
- the right-hand suspended engine mounting (see
19D, Engine mounting, Right-hand suspended
engine mounting: Removal - Refitting, page
19D-51) ,
- the crankshaft accessories pulley (see 11A, Top
and front of engine, Crankshaft accessories
pulley: Removal - Refitting, page 11A-33) ,
- the air filter unit (see 12A, Fuel mixture, Air filter
unit: Removal - Refitting, page 12A-13) ,
- the lower engine tie-bar,
- the lower engine tie-bar bolts.
a Torque tighten the lower engine tie-bar bolts (190
N.m).
a Refit:
- the engine undertray,
- the engine undertray bolts,
- the accessories belt (see 11A, Top and front of
engine, Accessories belt: Removal - Refitting,
page 11A-13) ,
- the front right-hand wheel arch liner (see Front
wheel arch liner: Removal - Refitting) (55A, Ex-
terior protection),
- the front right-hand wheel (see Wheel: Removal -
Refitting) (35A, Wheels and tyres).
a Connect the battery (see Battery: Removal - Refit-
ting) (80A, Battery).
a Refit the engine cover.
