Exhaust: List and location of components
(1) Connecting hose of the exhaust
pipe
(2) Particle filter
(3) Silencer
(4) Cutting zone between the parti-
cle filter and the intermediate
pipe (from 02/04/2008), marked
on the pipe by two punch marks
(5) Intermediate pipe
Note:
From 02/04/2008, the exhaust pipe is no longer a
single unit from the particle filter to the clamp con-
nection with the silencer.
A cutting zone on the exhaust pipe between the
connecting hose and the intermediate pipe is provi-
ded so that:
- there is no need to remove the silencer in order to
work on the remainder of the exhaust pipe,
- the repair procedure is facilitated by minimizing
contacts with the underbody.
The Parts Department supplies:
- if replacing only the intermediate pipe: an intermedi-
ate pipe to be cut for adaptation to the body,
- if replacing the particle filter: a particle filter and an in-
termediate pipe assembled together, to be cut in the
cutting zone before refitting on the vehicle and to be
assembled using an exhaust sleeve (see 19B, Ex-
haust, Exhaust: Precautions for the repair, page
19B-18) .
