Catalytic converter: Removal - Refitting
K9K, and 780
a Refit one of the catalytic converter nuts on the turbo-
charger.
Note:
Check that there is no contact between the cata-
lytic conver ter and the turbocharger oil return
pipe during the entire catalytic converter tighten-
ing operation.
a Refit the following in order:
- the catalytic converter upstream strut bolts on the
engine,
- the catalytic converter downstream strut bolt and
nut on the gearbox,
- the catalytic converter upstream strut bolts on the
catalytic converter,
- the catalytic converter downstream strut bolt on the
catalytic converter,
- the catalytic converter nuts on the turbocharger,
a Tighten the following in order:
- the catalytic converter upstream strut bolts on the
engine,
- the catalytic converter downstream strut bolt and
nut on the gearbox,
- the catalytic converter upstream strut bolts on the
catalytic converter,
- the catalytic converter downstream strut bolt on the
catalytic converter,
- the catalytic converter nuts on the turbocharger,
a Refit the exhaust bracket new sealing ring on the
catalytic converter.
a Fit the intermediate pipe.
a Refit the intermediate pipe bolts on the catalytic con-
verter.
a Tighten the intermediate pipe bolts on the catalytic
converter.
III - FINAL OPERATION.
a Refit:
- the lower engine tie-bar,
- the lower engine tie-bar bolts.
a Torque tighten the lower engine tie-bar bolts (190
N.m).
a Refit:
- the engine undertray,
EXHAUST
- the engine undertray bolts,
- the engine cover.
a Connect the battery (see Battery: Removal - Refit-
ting) (MR 415, 80A, Battery).
