Silencer: Removal - Refitting
F4R – V4Y – M9R, and 800 or 802 or 805 or 806 or 809 or 816 or 845 or 849 – V9X
REFITTING
I - REFITTING PREPARATION OPERATION
If replacing the silencer
a Remove:
- the silencer rubber mounting bush support bolts,
- the silencer rubber mounting bush supports.
a Refit:
- the new silencer rubber mounting bush supports,
- the new silencer rubber mounting bush support
bolts.
a Always replace the clip between the intermediate
pipe and the silencer.
WARNING
T o prevent the surrounding components from
overheating, do not damage (tear, pierce, bend,
etc.) a heat shield. Any damaged heat shields
must be replaced.
II - REFITTING OPERATION FOR PART
CONCERNED
1 - Refitting procedure after removal using Mot.
1857
a Check the appearance of the rubber mounting bush-
es: replace them if necessary (cracks, tears, etc.).
a Use BRAKE CLEANER (see Vehicle: Parts and
consumables for the repair) (04B, Consumables -
Products) or a soapy water type solution to lubri-
cate the holes in the rubber mounting bushes for the
welded threads.
a Fit the silencer using the component support.
a Fit the welded threads of the silencer in the rubber
mounting bushes until the conical end piece of the
welded threads protrudes from the rubber mounting
bushes.
2 - Refitting procedure after removal without Mot.
1857
a Fit the silencer using the component support.
a Tighten the bolts of the silencer supports on the
body.
EXHAUST
3 - Silencer refitting procedure
a Adjust the silencer in relation to the bumper in order
to align the two silencer outlet pipes horizontally.
a Tighten the mounting bolts of the silencer outlet
pipes on the body.
III - FINAL OPERATION
a Fit the new silencer exhaust pipe clamp.
a Attach the intermediate pipe and the silencer.
a Tighten the silencer exhaust pipe clamp.
a Make sure that there is no contact with the under-
body.

WARNING
Position the « nut and bolt securing the sleeve »
assembly so that the assembly cannot come into
contact with the underbody.
