Exhaust gas recirculation assembly: Removal - Refitting

II - OPERATION FOR REMOVAL OF PART
CONCERNED
a Remove:
- the bolts (15) from the exhaust gas recirculation as-
sembly,
- the exhaust gas recirculation assembly.
REFITTING
I - REFITTING PREPARATION OPERATION
a Always replace:
- the air inlet metal tube seals,
- the seals from the turbocharger air outlet pipe.
a Use SURFACE CLEANER (see Vehicle: Parts
and consumables for the repair) (04B, Consuma-
bles - Products) to clean:
- the housing of each air inlet metal tube seal,
- the housing of the air inlet metal tube in the cylinder
head,
- the housing of the air inlet metal tube in the ex-
haust gas cooler mounting on the gearbox end.
WARNING
T o ensure proper sealing, the gasket surfaces
must be clean, dry and not greasy (avoid any fin-
ger marks).

II - REFITTING OPERATION FOR PART
CONCERNED
a Refit the exhaust gas recirculation assembly.
a Torque tighten the exhaust gas recirculation as-
sembly bolts (25 N.m).
III - FINAL OPERATION
a Connect the cooling pipes to the exhaust gas cooler.
a Fit the clips on the cooling pipes of the exhaust gas
cooler using the tool (Mot. 1448).
a Remove the tools (Ms. 583).
a Refit:
- the damper valve (see 12A, Fuel mixture, Damp-
er valve: Removal - Refitting, page 12A-39) ,
- new seals on the air inlet metal tube,
- the air inlet metal tube,
- the lifting eye on the timing end.
a Torque tighten the timing end lifting eye bolts (25
N.m).
a Clip:
- the wiring of the exhaust gas temperature sensor
on the lifting eye on the timing end,
- the connector of the exhaust gas temperature sen-
sor on the air inlet metal tube.
a Connect:
- the exhaust gas temperature sensor connector,
- the connector of the exhaust gas recirculation
valve solenoid valve,
- the exhaust gas recirculation valve pipe,
- the pipes of the exhaust gas recirculation valve so-
lenoid valve,
- the exhaust gas recirculation solenoid valve con-
nector.
a Refit:
- new seals on the turbocharger air outlet pipe,
- the turbocharger air outlet pipe.
a Fit the turbocharger air outlet pipe clip.
a Clip the turbocharger air outlet pipe onto the turbo-
charger.
a Fit the intermediate air pipe between the turbocharg-
er and the intercooler.
a Connect the intermediate air pipe between the tur-
bocharger and the intercooler.
