Intermediate pipe: Removal - Refitting

a Measuring from the pipe inlet (A) , cut the new inter-
mediate pipe (see 19B, Exhaust, Exhaust: Precau-
tions for the repair, page 19B-18) at a distance (X)
of:
- BTXX and KTXX = 125 mm (M9R*742,744,746,
748,754),
- DTXX = 185 mm (M9R*742,744,746,748,754),
- BTXX and KTXX = 159 mm (M9R*800,802,805,
806,809,816,845,849),
- DTXX = 219 mm (M9R*800,802,805,806,809,816,
845,849).
a Refit the intermediate pipe on the vehicle, using a
component jack.
a Fit a new exhaust clamp between the intermediate
pipe and the silencer.
a Fit without tightening the exhaust clamp between the
intermediate pipe and the silencer to keep the inter-
mediate pipe on the silencer.
M9R, and 742 or 744 or 746 or 748 or 754
a Fit a new exhaust sleeve between the connecting
hose and the intermediate pipe (see 19B, Exhaust,
Exhaust: Precautions for the repair, page 19B-
18) .
M9R, and 800 or 802 or 805 or 806 or 809 or 816
or 845 or 849
a Fit a new exhaust sleeve between the particle filter
and the intermediate pipe (see 19B, Exhaust, Ex-
haust: Precautions for the repair, page 19B-18) .
EXHAUST
a Adjust the intermediate pipe in relation to the silenc-
er in order to prevent leaks from the connection.
a Torque tighten the exhaust clamp between the in-
termediate pipe and the silencer (21 N.m).
a Check for leaks and contact with the underbody (see
19B, Exhaust, Exhaust: Precautions for the re-
pair, page 19B-18) .
a Lower the vehicle on the lift.
