Catalytic converter: Removal - Refitting

REFITTING
I - REFITTING PREPARATION OPERATION
a Always replace:
- the exhaust bracket seal,
- the seal between the catalytic converter and the
turbocharger,
- the studs if they have been undone.
WARNING
All damaged heat shields must be replaced.
II - REFITTING OPERATION FOR PART
CONCERNED
a Refit:
- the studs,
- the downstream oxygen sensor,
- the new seal between the catalytic converter and
the turbocharger,
- the catalytic converter,
- the catalytic converter elbow nuts,
- the catalytic converter downstream strut,
- the catalytic converter downstream strut nut on the
gearbox,
- the catalytic converter downstream strut bolt on the
catalytic converter,
- the catalytic converter upstream strut bolt on the
catalytic converter,
- the catalytic converter bracket bolt on the catalytic
converter.
a Tighten the catalytic converter nuts.
a Tighten to torque:
- the catalytic converter upstream strut bolt on
the catalytic converter (11 Nm),
- the catalytic converter bracket bolt on the cata-
lytic converter (11 Nm).
a Connect the downstream oxygen sensor connector.
a Attach the downstream oxygen sensor wiring.
III - FINAL OPERATION.
a Refit:
- the new exhaust bracket seal,
- exhaust bracket nuts .
EXHAUST
a Refit:
- the heat shield on the bulkhead,
- the heat shield clips on the bulkhead,
- the lifting bracket,
- the lifting bracket bolt,
a Torque tighten the lifting bracket bolt (33 Nm).
a Refit:
- the upstream oxygen sensor using the (Mot. 1495-
- the turbocharger heat shield,
- the turbocharger heat shield bolts.
a Tighten the turbocharger heat shield bolts.
a Refit:
- the relay bearing,
- the relay bearing bolts,
- the front right-hand driveshaft (see Front right-
- the rear suspended engine mounting (see 19D,
- the engine undertray,
- the engine undertray bolts,
- the front right-hand wheel arch liner (see Front
- the front right-hand wheel (see Wheel: Removal -
- the engine cover.
a Connect the battery (see Battery: Removal - Refit-
ting) (MR 415, 80A, Battery).
