Expansion chamber: Removal - Refitting

Equipment required
component jack
IMPORTANT
Wear heat protective gloves during the operation.
Note:
Before working on the expansion chamber (see
Vehicle: Precautions for the repair) (01D,
Mechanical introduction).
REMOVAL
I - REMOVAL PREPARATION OPERATION
a Position the vehicle on a two-post lift (see Vehicle:
Towing and lifting) (02A, Lifting equipment).
II - OPERATION FOR REMOVAL OF PART
CONCERNED
a Cut the exhaust pipe in the marked cutting zone (see
19B, Exhaust, Exhaust: Precautions for the re-
pair, page 19B-18) and (see Exhaust: Parts and
consumables for the repair) .
Note:
Place a component jack under the expansion
chamber to prevent it from falling.
EXHAUST
a Remove:
- the rear silencer clip (1) ,
- the expansion chamber.
REFITTING
I - REFITTING PREPARATION OPERATION
a parts always to be replaced: clip between expan-
sion chamber and silencer (10,08,02,19).
II - REFITTING OPERATION FOR PART
CONCERNED
a Refit:
- the expansion chamber,
- a new clip between the expansion chamber and the

WARNING
To prevent the surrounding components from
overheating, do not damage (tear, pierce, bend,
etc.) a heat shield.
Any damaged heat shields must be replaced.
