High pressure pump: Removal - Refitting

REFITTING
I - REFITTING PREPARATION OPERATION
If replacing the high pressure pump
a - Remove the high pressure pump pulley
a
Note:
If the high pressure pump is replaced, retain the
high pressure pump pulley and refit it to the new
high pressure pump.
a Hold the high pressure pump in a vice with jaws, by
the lower mounting on the pulley side.
a Immobilise the high pressure pump pulley using a
offset spanner.
Note:
The high pressure pump pulley can also be held
with a (Mot. 799-01).
a Remove the nut from the high-pressure pump pul-
ley.

a Fit the (Mot. 1525) equipped with the (Mot. 1768) to
extract the high pressure pump pulley.
Note:
Be sure not to mark the high pressure pump pul-
ley when extracting using the (Mot. 1525)
equipped with the (Mot. 1768).
a Protect the contact zones between the (Mot. 1525)
and (Mot. 1768) and the high pressure pump pulley.
a Extract the high pressure pump pulley.
a A damaged high pressure pump pulley must always
be replaced.
b - Refitting the high pressure pump pulley
a Remove the injector rail from its plastic bag.
a Place the high pressure pump in a vice with jaws,
securing it by the lower mounting on the pulley side.
a Refit:
- the high pressure pump pulley,
- the high pressure pump pulley nut.
a Immobilise the high pressure pulley using a offset
spanner or with the (Mot. 799-01).
a Tighten the high pressure pump pulley nut.
II - REFITTING OPERATION FOR PART
CONCERNED
a Refit:
- the high pressure pump,
- the high pressure pump bolts.
a Tighten the high pressure pump bolts.
III - FINAL OPERATION
a Remove the blanking plugs.
a Connect the fuel return union to the high pressure
pump.
a Refit:
- the high pressure pipe between the pump and the
rail (see 13B, Diesel injection, High pressure
pipe between pump and rail: Removal - Refit-
ting, page 13B-140) ,
- the rail protector,
- the rail protector bolt,
- the rail protector nuts.
