Intermediate pipe: Removal - Refitting

a Remove:
- the engine undertray,
- the bolts (3) of the intermediate pipe front section
on the catalytic converter,
- the front section of the intermediate pipe,
- the sealing ring on the catalytic converter and dis-
card it.
REFITTING THE FRONT SECTION OF THE
INTERMEDIATE PIPE

Note:
This method is applicable only to exhaust pipes
which have a cutting zone, produced from 02/04/
2008.
Parts always to be replaced:
- the sealing ring on the catalytic converter
- the exhaust clamp between the expansion cham-
ber and the silencer
Note:
The Parts Department supplies the intermediate
pipe front section and the intermediate pipe as
an integrated assembly provided with a cutting
zone.
EXHAUST
a Cut the new exhaust pipe (see 19B, Exhaust, Ex-
haust: Precautions for the repair, page 19B-18)
between the intermediate pipe front section and the
intermediate pipe, in the designated cutting zone
(see 19B, Exhaust, Exhaust: List and location of
components, page 19B-1) .

a Remove:
- the exhaust clamp (4) between the intermediate
- the intermediate pipe.
a Fit:
- a new exhaust clamp between the intermediate
- the new intermediate pipe, using a component
a Fit without tightening the exhaust clamp between the
intermediate pipe and the silencer to keep the inter-
mediate pipe on the silencer.
a Refit the intermediate pipe front section, fitted with a
new sealing ring, on the catalytic converter.
a Tighten the bolts of the intermediate pipe front sec-
tion on the catalytic converter.
a Fit an exhaust sleeve between the intermediate pipe
front section and the intermediate pipe (see 19B,
Exhaust, Exhaust: Precautions for the repair,
page 19B-18) .
a Adjust the intermediate pipe in relation to the silenc-
er in order to prevent leaks from the connection.
a Torque tighten the exhaust clamp between the in-
termediate pipe and the silencer (21 N.m).
