High pressure pipe between pump and rail: Removal - Refitting
M9R, and 744 or 748 or 754 or 800 or 802 or 805 or 806 or 808 or 809 or 816 or 845 or 849
II - REFITTING OPERATION FOR PART
CONCERNED
a Fit a new high pressure pipe between the pump and
the rail.
a Position:
- the high pressure pipe olive between the pump and
the rail on the injector rail,
- the high pressure pipe olive between the pump and
the rail on the high pressure pump.
a Refit the rubber pad of the high pressure pipe be-
tween the pump and the rail on the rocker cover in its
position marked during the removal operation.
a Fit, without tightening, the nuts on the high pressure
pipes between the pump and the rail, starting with
the nut on the injector rail side.
a Tighten to torque:
- the nut of the high pressure pipe between the
pump and the rail on the high pressure pump
side (32 N.m) using the tool, part number 77 11
223 720,
- the nut on the high pressure pipe between the
pump and the rail on the injector rail side (32
N.m) using the tool, part number 77 11 223 721.
a Refit:
- the protector for the nut on the high pressure pipe
between the pump and the rail on the high pressure
pump side,
- the bolts for the high pressure pipe between the
pump and the rail on the rocker cover.
a Tighten the bolts for the high pressure pipe between
the pump and the rail on the rocker cover.
a Clip on the diesel temperature sensor.
a Connect the camshaft position sensor connector.
III - FINAL OPERATION
a Refit:
- the air filter unit (see 12A, Fuel mixture, Air filter
unit: Removal - Refitting, page 12A-13) ,
- the injector rail protector (see 13B, Diesel injec-
tion, Injector rail protector: Removal - Refitting,
page 13B-126) .

a Fit the intercooler air inlet pipe.
Note:
The intercooler air inlet pipe is correctly clipped
onto the turbocharger if the clip is engaged in the
neck of the turbocharger.
a Clip the intercooler air inlet pipe on the turbocharger
side.
a Refit the bolts of the intercooler air inlet pipe on the
intake distributor.
a Tighten the bolts of the intercooler air inlet pipe on
the intake distributor.
a Fit the radiator top hose on the intercooler air inlet
pipe.
a Refit the radiator top hose nut on the intercooler air
inlet pipe.
a Tighten the radiator top hose nut on the intercooler
air inlet pipe.
a Refit the engine cover.
a Connect the battery (see Battery: Removal - Refit-
ting) (80A, Battery).
