Catalytic pre-converter: Removal - Refitting

II - OPERATION FOR REMOVAL OF PART
CONCERNED
a Remove the nuts (14) from the connecting hose on
the catalytic pre-converter.
Note:
Apply SUPER RELEASING AGENT (see Vehi-
cle: Parts and consumables for the repair)
(04B, Consumables - Products) to the catalytic
pre-converter studs to prevent the studs from
breaking when the nuts are loosened.
a Remove the connecting hose from the catalytic pre-
converter.
a Remove:
- the catalytic pre-converter seal,
- the catalytic pre-converter.
REFITTING
I - REFITTING PREPARATION OPERATION
a parts always to be replaced: Exhaust fuel injec-
tor seal (10,08,02,14).
a Always replace:
- the seal between the catalytic pre-converter and
the flexible pipe,
- the nuts between the catalytic pre-converter and
the connecting hose,
EXHAUST
- the studs between the catalytic pre-converter and
- the seal of the exhaust fuel injector cooler,
- the seal between the catalytic pre-converter and
- the studs between the turbocharger and the cata-
- the nuts between the turbocharger and the catalytic
- the catalytic pre-converter stay studs,
- the turbocharger heat shield nuts,
- the studs on the heat shield of the turbocharger, if
a Use SURFACE CLEANER (see Vehicle: Parts
and consumables for the repair) (04B, Consuma-
bles - Products) to clean and degrease the joint fa-
ces:
133904
- on the catalytic pre-converter if reused,
- on the turbocharger,
- on the connecting hose.
a Torque tighten the new catalytic pre-converter
studs on the turbocharger (21 N.m).
II - REFITTING OPERATION FOR PART
CONCERNED
a Refit:
- the catalytic pre-converter,
- a new catalytic pre-converter seal.
a Position the connecting hose on the catalytic pre-
converter.
a Torque tighten the new catalytic pre-converter
nuts on the connecting hose (21 N.m).
III - FINAL OPERATION
a Refit a new seal on the exhaust fuel injector cooler.
a Fit the exhaust fuel injector cooler.
a Torque tighten the exhaust diesel injector cooler
nuts (21 N.m).
a Fit the crankshaft position sensor wiring.
a Connect the crankshaft position sensor connector.
a Torque tighten the catalytic pre-converter studs
on the turbocharger (21 N.m).
