Expansion chamber: Removal - Refitting

the expansion chamber
and the silencer
IMPORTANT
To avoid all risk of damage to the systems, apply
the safety and cleanliness instructions and opera-
tion recommendations before carrying out any
repair:
- see Exhaust: Precautions for repair (19B,
Exhaust),
- see Vehicle: Precautions for repair (01D,
Mechanical introduction).
REMOVAL
a Position the vehicle on a lift (see Vehicle: Towing
and lifting) .
a Place a component jack under the expansion cham-
ber.

Note:
The connecting hose is integrated with the
expansion chamber.
EXHAUST
21 N.m
a Remove:
- the silencer (see 19B, Exhaust, Silencer: Remov-
- the engine undertray,
- the connecting hose nuts (1) on the catalytic con-
- the bolt of the connecting hose suspension stud on
- the connecting hose - expansion chamber assem-
- the connecting hose seal on the catalytic converter,

AJ0, and ELECTRICAL SUNROOF + FIXED REAR
SECTION
a Loosen the retaining clip bolts for the sound insula-
tion between the connecting hose and the expan-
sion chamber.
a Remove the four sound insulations.
a Separate the clips to facilitate access to the cutting
zone between the connecting hose and the expan-
sion chamber.
a Cut the exhaust pipe (see 19B, Exhaust, Exhaust:
Precautions for the repair, page 19B-18) between
the connecting hose and the expansion chamber, in
19B-53
al - Refitting, page 19B-64) ,

the front axle subframe,

then discard it.
