Intermediate pipe: Removal - Refitting

Tightening torquesm
exhaust clamp between
the intermediate pipe
and the silencer
IMPORTANT
To avoid all risk of damage to the systems, apply
the safety and cleanliness instructions and opera-
tion recommendations before carrying out any
repair:
- see Exhaust: Precautions for repair (19B,
Exhaust),
- see Vehicle: Precautions for repair (01D,
Mechanical introduction).
REMOVAL
a Position the vehicle on a lift (see Vehicle: Towing
and lifting) .
a Place a component jack under the intermediate
pipe.
a Cut the exhaust pipe (see 19B, Exhaust, Exhaust:
Precautions for the repair, page 19B-18) between
the particle filter and the intermediate pipe, in the
designated cutting zone (see 19B, Exhaust, Ex-
haust: List and location of components, page
19B-1) .
EXHAUST
21 N.m
a Remove:
- the exhaust clamp (1) between the intermediate
- the intermediate pipe.
REFITTING
a Parts always to be replaced: exhaust clamp be-
tween the intermediate pipe and the silencer.
a Refit the intermediate pipe, using a component jack.
a Fit a new exhaust clamp between the intermediate
pipe and the silencer.
a Fit without tightening the exhaust clamp between the
intermediate pipe and the silencer to keep the inter-
mediate pipe on the silencer.
a Fit a new exhaust sleeve between the intermediate
pipe front section and the intermediate pipe (see
19B, Exhaust, Exhaust: Precautions for the re-
pair, page 19B-18) .
a Adjust the intermediate pipe in relation to the silenc-
er in order to prevent leaks from the connection.
a Torque tighten the exhaust clamp between the in-
termediate pipe and the silencer (21 N.m).
a Check for leaks and contact with the underbody (see
19B, Exhaust, Exhaust: Precautions for the re-
pair, page 19B-18) .
Lower the vehicle on the lift.
