II - PARTICLE FILTER FORCED REGENERATION
PROCEDURE USING THE DIAGNOSTIC TOOL
a Connect the Diagnostic tool to the vehicle.
IMPORTANT
During forced regeneration of the particle filter,
the temperature of the exhaust pipe rises signifi-
cantly.
Always use one of the two kits approved for the
high temperatures reached during forced regen-
eration, whether the operation is carried out in
the workshop using an exhaust gas extractor, or
outside the workshop.
Ensure that when in use, the kit is not touching
the rear bumper when carrying out forced regen-
eration of the particle filter.
Note:
T o prevent engine racing, check the engine oil
level using the dipstick before running the forced
regeneration command.
The engine oil level must be between the
« MIN » and « MAX » marks on the dipstick.
a For the particle filter forced regeneration procedure:
- connect the Diagnostic tool,
- select the « injection computer » ,
- go to repair mode,
- Display
the
« particle filter regeneration
procedure » ,
- select the « particle filter » in the « list of compo-
nents stored by the computer » section,
- carry out the operations described in the « particle
filter regeneration procedure » section.
Note:
If required, the forced regeneration procedure
may be stopped by pressing the engine Start but-
ton twice in succession.
Note:
Strong odours and thick smoke are to be
expected during forced regeneration of the parti-
cle filter.

a When forced regeneration of the particle filter has fi-
nished, and using the Diagnostic tool :
- deal with the present faults,
- clear the stored faults.
a Drain the engine oil (see 10A, Engine and cylinder
block assembly, Engine oil: Draining - Refilling,
page 10A-100) (MR 415, 10A, Engine and peripher-
als).
a Replace the oil filter (see 10A, Engine and cylinder
block assembly, Oil filter: Removal - Refitting,
page 10A-117) (see MR 415, 10A, Engine and pe-
ripherals).
