Catalytic pre-converter: Removal - Refitting
M9R, and 802 or 805 or 806 or 808 or 809 or 816
a Tighten the mounting half-clip bolts.
a Fit the catalytic pre-converter on the turbocharger.
a Refit:
- new catalytic pre-converter nuts on the turbocharg-
er,
- the catalytic pre-converter strut,
- the strut bolt on the catalytic pre-converter,
- the strut nuts on the cylinder block,
- the stay nuts on the catalytic pre-converter,
- new catalytic pre-converter half-clips.
a Fit the catalytic pre-converter half-clip bolts without
tightening them.
a Tighten the following in order:
- the catalytic pre-converter nuts on the turbocharg-
er,
- the strut bolt on the catalytic pre-converter,
- the strut nuts on the cylinder block,
- the stay nuts on the catalytic pre-converter,
- the catalytic pre-converter half-clip bolts.
III - FINAL OPERATION
a Refit the engine tie-bar (see 19D, Engine mount-
ing, Lower engine tie-bar: Removal - Refitting,
page 19D-85) .
a Position the flexible pipe.
a Refit:
- a new seal between the connecting hose and the
catalytic pre-converter,
- new catalytic pre-converter studs.
a Tighten the catalytic pre-converter studs using a
roller-type stud removal tool.
a Refit the connecting hose nuts.
a Tighten the connecting hose nuts on the catalytic
pre-converter.

a Refit the front right-hand driveshaft seal (see Differ-
ential output seal: Removal - Refitting) (21A,
Manual gearbox).
EXHAUST
a Refit the front right-hand wheel driveshaft (see
Front right-hand driveshaft: Removal - Refitting)
(21A, Manual gearbox).
M9R, and 802 or 806 or 808 or 816
a Fill the gearbox (see Manual gearbox oils: Drain-
ing - Filling) (21A, Manual gearbox).
a Refit:
- the engine undertray,
- the engine undertray bolts,
- the front right-hand wheel (see Wheel: Removal -
- the turbocharger heat shield,
- the turbocharger heat shield bolts.
a Torque tighten the turbocharger heat shield bolts
(7 N.m).
a Refit the exhaust gas pressure sensor (see 19B, Ex-
haust, Exhaust gas pressure sensor: Removal -
Refitting, page 19B-93) .
a Clip on the exhaust gas temperature sensor wiring.
a Refit the engine cover.
