Coolant pump: Removal - Refitting

a Finish cleaning using GREY ABRASIVE PADS, part
number 77 01 405 943.
WARNING
T o ensure proper sealing, the gasket surfaces
must be clean, dry and not greasy (avoid any fin-
ger marks).
a Use SURFACE CLEANER (see Vehicle: Parts
and consumables for the repair) (04B, Consuma-
bles - Products) to clean the joint faces:
- of the coolant pump cover,
- of the back row camshaft dephaser cover,
- of the timing cover.
II - REFITTING OPERATION FOR PART

a
Note:
Before fitting the coolant pump, apply engine oil
to a new brown O-ring (6) and coolant to a new
black O-ring (7) .
a Refit new O-rings to the coolant pump.
a Fit the coolant pump.
a Rotate the engine clockwise by twenty degrees.
a Refit the coolant pump bolts.
a Torque tighten the coolant pump bolts (9 N.m).
a Remove the cloth.
a Refit the primary chain hydraulic tensioner (see 11A,
Top and front of engine, Timing chain: Removal
- Refitting, page 11A-88) .
COOLING
III - FINAL OPERATION
a Apply a bead of SILICONE ADHESIVE SEALANT
(see Vehicle: Parts and consumables for the re-
pair) (04B, Consumables - Products) with a width of
3 mm to the coolant pump cover (8) .

a Refit:
- the coolant pump cover,
- a new back row camshaft dephaser cover seal,
- the back row camshaft dephaser cover (9) .
a Tighten the bolts of the back row camshaft dephaser
cover in order (9) .
a Refit the accessories belt of the air conditioning
compressor (see 11A, Top and front of engine,
Accessories belt: Removal - Refitting, page 11A-
13) .
