Silencer: Removal - Refitting

REMOVAL
I - REMOVAL PREPARATION OPERATION
a Position the vehicle on a two-post lift (see Vehicle:
Towing and lifting) (MR 415, 02A, Lifting equip-
ment).
II - OPERATION FOR REMOVAL OF PART
CONCERNED
a Remove:
- the exhaust pipe clamp nut (1) ,
- the exhaust pipe clamp bolt (1) .
a Separate the intermediate pipe and the silencer.
a Remove the exhaust pipe clamp from the silencer.
a Position a component support under the silencer.
EXHAUST
1 - Removal procedure using Mot. 1857

a Place tool Mot. 1857 on the welded thread (2) of the
silencer, with the pliers open, with the pushing shaft
(A) of the tool against the end of the welded thread,
and the fork (B) of the tool behind the rubber mount-
ing bush.
a Close the pliers to extract the rubber mounting bush
from the welded thread of the silencer.
a Repeat the same operations on the other rubber
mounting bush of the silencer.
a Remove the silencer.
