Connecting hose: Removal - Refitting

I - FOR VEHICLES PRODUCED BEFORE 02/04/2008
a Refit the connecting hose - expansion chamber as-
sembly (see 19B, Exhaust, Expansion chamber:
Removal - Refitting, page 19B-47) .
II - FOR VEHICLES PRODUCED FROM 02/04/2008
a
Note:
The new connecting hose supplied by the Parts
Department must be adapted before being fitted
on the vehicle.
Cut the pipe behind the new connecting hose (see
19B, Exhaust, Exhaust: Precautions for the re-
pair, page 19B-18) at a distance of 258 mm from
the pipe on the expansion chamber end.
AJ0, and ELECTRICAL SUNROOF + FIXED REAR
SECTION
a Fit two retaining clips for the sound insulation be-
tween the connecting hose and the expansion
chamber on the connecting hose
a Refit the connecting hose, fitted with a new seal, on
the catalytic converter.
a Tighten the connecting hose nuts on the catalytic
converter.
a Fit a new exhaust sleeve between the connecting
hose and the intermediate pipe (see 19B, Exhaust,
Exhaust: Precautions for the repair, page 19B-
18) .
a Tighten the bolt of the connecting hose suspension
stud on the front axle subframe.
EXHAUST
AJ0, and ELECTRICAL SUNROOF + FIXED REAR
SECTION
a
Refit two sound insulations on the pipe between the
connecting hose and the exhaust sleeve.
a Tighten the retaining clip bolts for the sound insula-
tions between the connecting hose and the expan-
sion chamber.
a Refit the engine undertray.
a Check for leaks and contact with the underbody (see
19B, Exhaust, Exhaust: Precautions for the re-
pair, page 19B-18) .
Lower the vehicle on the lift.

Note:
Because the exhaust sleeve serves as sound
insulation, only two of the four original sound
insulations on the vehicle are used afterwards.
