Catalytic converter: Removal - Refitting
K4M or M4R
a Always replace the exhaust flange sealing ring.
WARNING
T o prevent the surrounding components from
overheating, do not damage (tear, pierce bend
etc.) a heat shield.
All damaged heat shields must be replaced.
a Position the after sales sleeve on the catalytic con-
verter (see 19B, Exhaust, Exhaust: Precautions
for the repair, page 19B-18) .
IMPORTANT
Position the « nut and bolt securing the sleeve »
assembly so that the assembly cannot come into
contact with the underbody.
II - REFITTING OPERATION FOR PART
CONCERNED
a Refit:
- the catalytic converter,
- the exhaust flange bolts.
a Torque tighten the exhaust flange bolts (21 Nm).
a Tighten the sleeve bolts while guiding the exhaust
pipe to ensure correct alignment.
a Check:
- that all the exhaust pipe heat shields are in place
and properly attached.
- that there is no contact with the underbody,
- that there are no leaks.
EXHAUST
III - FINAL OPERATION.
a Refit:
- the upstream and downstream oxygen sensors
- the engine undertray,
- the engine undertray bolts,
- the engine cover.
a Connect the battery (see Battery: Removal - Refit-
ting) (MR 415, 80A, Battery).
