Catalytic converter: Removal - Refitting
K9K, and 780
a Remove:
- the catalytic converter downstream strut bolts (3) ,
- the catalytic converter downstream strut nut (4) ,
- the catalytic converter downstream strut.
a Loosen but do not remove the bolt (5) from the cata-
lytic converter upstream strut.
a Remove:
- the catalytic converter upstream strut bolts (6) ,
- the catalytic converter upstream stay,
- the catalytic converter nuts (7) ,
EXHAUST
- the catalytic converter,
- the catalytic converter exhaust bracket sealing ring
- the seal between the catalytic converter and the
REFITTING
I - REFITTING PREPARATION OPERATION

a Always replace the catalytic converter exhaust
bracket sealing ring.
a Clean the bearing faces using ABRASIVE PADS
on:
- the intermediate pipe,
- on the catalytic converter,
- the turbocharger,
a Degrease these bearing faces using SURFACE

CLEANER (see Vehicle: Parts and consumables
for the repair) (MR 415, 04B, Consumables - Prod-
ucts) and CLEAN CLOTHS.
II - REFITTING OPERATION FOR PART

a Refit:
- the seal between the catalytic converter and the
