Intermediate pipe: Removal - Refitting

Equipment required
component jack
Tightening torquesm
exhaust clamp between
the intermediate pipe
and the silencer
IMPORTANT
To avoid all risk of damage to the systems, apply
the safety and cleanliness instructions and opera-
tion recommendations before carrying out any
repair:
- (see 19B, Exhaust, Exhaust: Precautions for
the repair, page 19B-18) ,
- (see Vehicle: Precautions for the repair) (01D,
Mechanical introduction).
REMOVAL
a Position the vehicle on a lift (see Vehicle: Towing
and lifting) (02A, Lifting equipment).
a Place a component jack under the intermediate
pipe.
I - FOR VEHICLES PRODUCED BEFORE 02/04/2008
M9R, and 800 or 802 or 805 or 806 or 809 or 816
or 845 or 849

Note:
The intermediate pipe is integrated with the parti-
cle filter.
a Remove the particle filter (see 19B, Exhaust, Parti-
cle filter: Removal - Refitting, page 19B-71) .
EXHAUST
M9R, and 742 or 744 or 746 or 748 or 754
21 N.m
a
a Remove:
- the silencer (see 19B, Exhaust, Silencer: Remov-
- the engine undertray,
- the connecting hose nuts (1) on the catalytic con-
- the bolt of the connecting hose suspension stud on
- the connecting hose - intermediate pipe assembly,
- the connecting hose seal on the catalytic converter,
II - FOR VEHICLES PRODUCED FROM 02/04/2008
M9R, and 742 or 744 or 746 or 748 or 754
a Cut the exhaust pipe (see 19B, Exhaust, Exhaust:
Precautions for the repair, page 19B-18) between
the connecting hose and the intermediate pipe, in
19B-60
Note:
The intermediate pipe is a single unit from the
catalytic converter to the silencer.
