Exhaust gas cooler: Removal - Refitting

2 - Second fitting
a On the workbench, refit:
- the exhaust gas cooler with a new seal on the ex-
haust gas cooler mounting on the flywheel end,
- fit without tightening the exhaust gas cooler bolts
on the exhaust gas cooler mounting on the flywheel
end,
- a new exhaust gas recirculation rigid pipe with a
new seal on the exhaust gas recirculation assem-
bly,
- fit without tightening the bolts of the exhaust gas re-
circulation rigid pipe on the exhaust gas cooler.
Note:
The exhaust gas cooler must be able to move in
relation to the mounting of the exhaust gas recir-
culation cooler and the exhaust gas cooler rigid
pipe so that it can be adjusted correctly.
a Fit the exhaust gas recirculation assembly.
a Tighten:
- the bolts of the exhaust gas cooler mounting on the
cylinder head,
- the bolts to the exhaust gas recirculation rigid pipe
bracket on the cylinder head.
a Tighten to torque:
- the exhaust gas cooler bolts on the exhaust gas
cooler mounting (12 N.m),
- the exhaust gas recirculation rigid pipe bolts
(12 N.m).
III - FINAL OPERATION
1 - First fitting
a Loosen on the cylinder head:
- the exhaust gas cooler mounting bolts on the fly-
wheel end,
- the exhaust gas cooler mounting bolts on the tim-
ing end.
a Tighten to torque:
- the exhaust gas cooler mounting bolts on the
cylinder head on the flywheel end (25 N.m),
- the exhaust gas cooler mounting bolts on the
cylinder head on the timing end (25 N.m).

2 - Second fitting
a Loosen on the cylinder head:
- the exhaust gas cooler mounting bolts,
- the bolts of the exhaust gas recirculation rigid pipe
bracket,
a Tighten to torque:
- the exhaust gas cooler mounting bolts on the
cylinder head (25 N.m),
- the bolts of the exhaust gas recirculation rigid
pipe bracket on the cylinder head (25 N.m),
- the bolts of the exhaust gas recirculation rigid
pipe on the exhaust manifold (36 N.m).
3 - First fitting
a Refit the rigid exhaust gas recirculation pipe (see
14A, Antipollution, Exhaust gas recirculation rig-
id pipe: Removal - Refitting, page 14A-62) .
4 - The following is the same for both types of
assemblies
a Connect the cooling hoses of the exhaust gas cooler
cover.
a Fit the clip on each cooling hose of the exhaust gas
cooler cover using the tool (Mot. 1448).
a Remove the tool (Ms. 583) on each cooling hose of
the exhaust gas cooler cover.
