Fuel pressure regulator: Removal - Refitting

a
WARNING
T o avoid any corrosion or damage, protect the
areas on which fuel is likely to run.
WARNING
T o prevent impurities from entering the circuit,
place protective plugs on all fuel circuit compo-
nents exposed to the open air.
a Remove:
- the bolts (2) from the fuel pressure regulator,
- fuel pressure regulator.
a Insert the blanking plugs.
REFITTING
I - REFITTING PREPARATION OPERATION
a Always replace the fuel pressure regulator seal.
a Use SURFACE CLEANER (see Vehicle: Parts
and consumables for the repair) (04B, Consum-
ables - Products) to clean the bearing faces of the
fuel pressure regulator.
a Wipe the bearing face of the fuel pressure regulator
on the high pressure pump using a compressed air
nozzle (see 13B, Diesel injection, Diesel injec-
tion: Precautions for the repair, page 13B-1) .

a Remove:
- the blanking plug from the fuel pressure regulator,
- the fuel pressure regulator seal.
a Refit the new fuel pressure regulator seal.
a Lubricate the fuel pressure regulator seal.
a Remove the blanking plug on the high pressure
pump.
a Flush the fuel pressure regulator housing by activat-
ing the manual priming pump.
II - REFITTING OPERATION FOR PART
CONCERNED
a Refit:
- the fuel pressure regulator, rotating it slightly in a
clockwise direction while pushing it gently down
until fully engaged,
- the fuel pressure regulator bolts.
a Torque tighten the fuel pressure regulator bolts (6
N.m).
a Connect the fuel pressure regulator connector.
III - FINAL OPERATION
a Refit the air filter box air outlet pipe.
a Tighten the air filter box air outlet pipe clip on the tur-
bocharger side.
a Clip:
- the turbocharging pressure regulator control pipe
onto the air filter box air outlet pipe,
- the air flowmeter wiring onto the air filter box air
outlet pipe,
a Refit:
- the air filter unit (see 12A, Fuel mixture, Air filter
unit: Removal - Refitting, page 12A-13) ,
- the engine cover.
a Connect the battery (see Battery: Removal - Refit-
ting) (80A, Battery).
