Exhaust gas recirculation solenoid valve: Removal - Refitting

a Raise the « exhaust gas recirculation solenoid valve
- exhaust gas cooler » assembly.
a Remove:
- the bolts (22) from the exhaust gas recirculation so-
lenoid valve,
- the exhaust gas recirculation solenoid valve,
- the exhaust gas recirculation solenoid valve seals.
REFITTING
I - REFITTING PREPARATION OPERATION
a parts always to be replaced: exhaust gas recir-
culation solenoid valve seal (11,07,01,13).
a parts always to be replaced: exhaust gas cooler
seal (11,07,01,17).
a Always replace:
- the catalytic pre-converter stay studs,
- the exhaust gas cooler nuts on the turbocharger,
- the exhaust gas cooler studs on the turbocharger,
if they were loosened during removal,
- the turbocharger heat shield nuts,
- the connecting hose nuts on the catalytic pre-con-
verter,
- the catalytic pre-converter connecting hose studs,
if they were loosened during removal.
- the turbocharger heat shield studs, if loosened dur-
ing removal.

a Clean the exhaust gas recirculation solenoid valve
(only the mechanical part) using a parts washer.
a Clean the bearing faces using ABRASIVE PADS
on:
- the exhaust gas recirculation solenoid valve,
- the exhaust gas recirculation cooler.
a Use SURFACE CLEANER (see Vehicle: Parts
and consumables for the repair) (04B, Consuma-
bles - Products) and CLEAN CLOTHS to degrease
the bearing faces:
- of the exhaust gas recirculation solenoid valve,
- of the exhaust gas recirculation cooler.
WARNING
To ensure proper sealing, the gasket surfaces
must be clean, dry and not greasy (avoid any fin-
ger marks).
WARNING
Do not scrape the joint faces of the aluminium,
any damage caused to the joint face will result in
a risk of leaks.
II - REFITTING OPERATION FOR PART
CONCERNED
a Refit:
- new exhaust gas recirculation solenoid valve seals,
- the exhaust gas recirculation solenoid valve on the
exhaust gas cooler.
a Torque tighten the exhaust gas recirculation sole-
noid valve bolts on the exhaust gas cooler (10
N.m).
a Refit:
- new exhaust gas cooler studs on the turbocharger,
if they were loosened during removal,
- the « exhaust gas recirculation solenoid valve - ex-
haust gas cooler » assembly.
a Fit without tightening:
- new exhaust gas cooler nuts on the turbocharger,
- the exhaust gas cooler bolts on the back row rocker
cover,
- the bolts to the exhaust gas recirculation solenoid
valve.
a Tighten the following in order:
- the exhaust gas recirculation solenoid valve bolts,
