Cooling system: Draining - Refilling
F4R or K4M or K9K or M4R or M9R or V4Y
IV - BLEEDING
a
WARNING
Do not open the bleed screw whilst the engine is
running; this would damage the engine.
a Deactivate the air conditioning system so that the
fan assembly is not operating from the start of the
operation.
a Start the engine.
V4Y
a Maintain the engine speed at 1500 rpm using a
pedal press for a minimum of 20 minutes.
M9R
a
Note:
Because of the layout of the cooling system, it is
more difficult to prime the coolant pump on this
engine. It is therefore essential to carefully follow
the different steps below.
WARNING
Do not open the bleed screw whilst the engine is
running; this would damage the engine.
a Start the engine and check that the air conditioning
system is off.
a With the air conditioning off, let the engine run at
1500 rpm until the engine cooling fan is triggered
twice (time required for automatic degassing).
Note:
T o check that the coolant pump has been cor-
rectly primed:
- after 5 min under 1500 rpm, check that the
temperature indicated on the instrument panel
begins to increase,
- each time the engine cooling fan is triggered,
check that there is a return flow in the expan-
sion bottle.
COOLING
K9K
a Maintain the engine speed at 1500 rpm, sharply
varying the engine speed (up to the maximum) 2 to
3 times approximately every 2 minutes until the fan
assembly starts for the second time.
F4R
a Maintain the engine speed at 2500 rpm, using a
pedal press, until the fan assembly has been acti-
vated twice.
K4M or M4R
a Maintain the engine speed at 3000 rpm using a
pedal press, until the fan assembly has been acti-
vated for a third time.
a Check that the heating is operating correctly.
a Allow the engine to cool until the coolant tempera-
ture is less than 50˚C.
a Adjust the coolant fluid level to the « MAXIMUM »
mark.
a Refit the expansion bottle cap.
V - FINAL OPERATION
a Remove the coolant recovery tray.
a Refit the engine undertray.
