Cooling system: Draining - Refilling

a Remove the bleed screw (7) from the heater matrix
inlet hose.
a Remove the bleed screw (8) from the turbocharger
inlet hose.
a Fill the cooling system with engine coolant recom-
mended by the manufacturer (see 19A, Cooling,
Engine cooling system: Specifications, page
COOLING
19A-13) and (see Vehicle: Parts and consum-
ables for the repair) (04B, Consumables - Prod-
ucts) via the expansion bottle until it overflows.
a Refit all the bleed screws as soon as the coolant
starts to flow in a continuous stream.
a Pressurise the system using the (Ms. 554-07) to
check that there are no leaks (see 19A, Cooling,
Engine cooling system: Check, page 19A-14) .
a Remove the bleed screw (8) .
a Fill the expansion bottle until it overflows.
a Tighten the expansion bottle cap.
a Clean any surfaces soiled by the coolant.

IV - BLEEDING
a Deactivate the air conditioning system so that the
fan assembly is not operating from the start of the
operation.
a Start the engine.
a Refit the bleed screw (8) as soon as the coolant
starts to flow in a continuous stream.
a Switch off the engine.
a Fill the expansion bottle until it overflows.
a Tighten the expansion bottle cap.
a Clean any surfaces soiled by the coolant.
a Start the engine.
a Maintain the engine speed at 1500 rpm using a ped-
al press, until the fan assembly has been activated
for a third time.
a Check that the heating is operating correctly.
a Allow the engine to cool until the coolant tempera-
ture is less than 50˚C.

a Adjust the coolant fluid level to the « MAXIMUM »
mark.
a Refit the expansion bottle cap.
V - FINAL OPERATION
a Remove the coolant recovery tray.
a Refit:
- the front bumper (see Front bumper: Removal -
19A-26
Note:
The coolant will flow out via the bleed screw (8)
only when the engine is running.
