Exhaust: List and location of components
(1) Silencer
(2) Cutting zone between the inter-
mediate pipe front section and
the intermediate pipe (from 02/
04/2008), marked on the pipe by
two punch marks
(3) Intermediate pipe front section,
with ball joint bracket on the cat-
alytic converter
(4) Intermediate pipe
Note:
From 02/04/2008, the exhaust pipe is no longer a
single unit from the ball joint bracket at the catalytic
converter outlet to the clamp connection with the
silencer.
The cutting zone on the exhaust pipe between the
intermediate pipe front section and the intermediate
pipe is provided so that:
- there is no need to remove the silencer in order to
work on the remainder of the exhaust pipe,
- the repair procedure is facilitated by minimizing
contacts with the underbody.
The Parts Department supplies:
- if replacing only the intermediate pipe: an intermedi-
ate pipe to be cut for adaptation to the body,
- if replacing the intermediate pipe front section: an in-
termediate pipe front section and an intermediate
pipe assembled together, to be cut in the cutting zone
before refitting on the vehicle and to be assembled
using an exhaust sleeve (see 19B, Exhaust, E x -
haust: Precautions for the repair, page 19B-18) .
