Diesel injector: Removal - Refitting

IMPORTANT
To avoid all risk of damage to the systems, apply
the safety and cleanliness instructions and opera-
tion recommendations before carrying out any
repair (see 13B, Diesel injection, Diesel injec-
tion: Precautions for the repair, page 13B-1) .
WARNING
Do not remove the blanking plugs from each com-
ponent until the last moment.
Also, do not remove the components from their
packaging until they are to be fitted to the vehicle.
REMOVAL
I - REMOVAL PREPARATION OPERATION
a Apply the procedure before repair using the Dia-
gnostic tool :
- connect the Diagnostic tool,
- select the « diesel injection computer » ,
- go to repair mode,
- display the « before repair procedure » on the se-
lected computer,
- select « injectors » in the « list of components con-
trolled by this computer » section,
- carry out the operations described in the
« procedure before repair » section.
a Remove the front engine cover.
a Disconnect the battery (see Battery: Removal - Re-
fitting) (80A, Battery).

a Remove:
- the high pressure pipe between the rail and injector
from the injector concerned (see 13B, Diesel in-
jection, High pressure pipe between rail and in-
jector: Removal - Refitting, page 13B-161) ,
- the diesel return pipe from the injectors (see 13B,
Diesel injection, Diesel return pipe: Removal -
Refitting, page 13B-98) .
II - OPERATION FOR REMOVAL OF PART
CONCERNED
a Remove:
- the bolt (1) from the diesel injector clamp con-
cerned,
- the diesel injector clamp concerned,
- the spacer from the diesel injector clamp con-
cerned,
- the diesel injector concerned,
- the heat protection washer.
Note:
If the heat protection washer is stuck at the bot-
tom of the well, use the (Mot. 1817) (see Injec-
tor well cleaning tool: Use) (Technical Note
6040A, 13B, Diesel injection).
