Exhaust gas recirculation rigid pipe: Removal - Refitting
M9R, and 754 or 800 or 802 or 805 or 806 or 808 or 809 or 816 or 845 or 849
a
Note:
If the bolts do not loosen:
- apply SUPER RELEASING AGENT (see Vehi-
cle: Parts and consumables for the repair)
(04B, Consumables - Products),
- wait 10 minutes,
- apply a maximum torque of 40 N.m until the
bolts are loosened.
a Remove:
- the bolts (5) securing the exhaust gas recirculation
rigid pipe on the exhaust manifold, applying a max-
imum loosening torque of 40 N.m,
- the exhaust gas recirculation rigid pipe,
- the exhaust gas recirculation rigid pipe clip,
- the exhaust gas recirculation rigid pipe seal on the
exhaust manifold,
REFITTING
I - REFITTING PREPARATION OPERATION
a Using SURFACE CLEANER (see Vehicle: Parts
and consumables for the repair) (04B, Consuma-
bles - Products), clean and degrease the bearing fa-
ces of:
- the exhaust manifold,
- the exhaust gas cooler.

a Parts always to be replaced:
- the exhaust gas recirculation rigid pipe,
- the exhaust gas recirculation rigid pipe clip,
- the rigid exhaust gas recirculation pipe seal,
- the exhaust gas recirculation rigid pipe bolts on the
exhaust manifold.
a Refit:
- the new exhaust gas recirculation rigid pipe seal,
- the new clip to the exhaust gas recirculation rigid
pipe on the exhaust gas cooler.
II - REFITTING OPERATION FOR PART
CONCERNED
a Fit the new rigid exhaust gas recirculation pipe.
a Fit without tightening:
- the new bolts to the exhaust gas recirculation rigid
pipe on the exhaust manifold,
- the bolt securing the exhaust gas recirculation rigid
pipe on the cylinder head.
a Secure the exhaust gas recirculation rigid pipe on
the exhaust gas cooler.
a Tighten the following in order:
- the bolt securing the exhaust gas recirculation rigid
pipe on the cylinder head,
- the clip for the exhaust gas recirculation rigid pipe
on the exhaust gas cooler,
- the exhaust gas recirculation rigid pipe bolts on the
exhaust manifold.
III - FINAL OPERATION
a Refit:
- the exhaust gas recirculation rigid pipe heat shield
on the exhaust side,
- the bolts to the exhaust gas recirculation rigid pipe
heat shield on the exhaust side.
a Tighten the exhaust gas recirculation rigid pipe heat
shield bolts on the exhaust side.
a Refit:
- the exhaust gas recirculation rigid pipe heat shield
on the inlet side,
- the bolts to the exhaust gas recirculation rigid pipe
heat shield on the inlet side.
a Tighten the exhaust gas recirculation rigid pipe heat
shield bolts on the inlet side.
