ECM Search
2-23-6 Setting Search Regions
CHECK
Set the region to search for the model. The whole region of the input image
can be searched. Processing time can be reduced and accuracy improve,
however, by limiting the search region.
When edges are extracted, the pixels at the edges of the screen cannot be
processed accurately. Do not include the outer edges of the screen when set-
ting the search region.

(0,0) to (511,483)
Each time the image is filtered, the range of inaccurate pixels will be increased
further. For example, if filtering is performed twice, the valid range will be
reduced as follows:
Filter size of 5 5: -2 pixels
Filter size of 3 3: -1 pixel
(Filtering is also performed once in edge extraction, so filtering is actually per-
formed a total of three times.)
1. Select Search region.

The model will be displayed with solid lines.

2. Draw a box-shaped search region.
