Use screen A of the Optical Channel Data Unit (ODU) Overhead to edit the Path
Monitoring overhead and the Fault Type and Fault Location (FTFL) overhead bytes and
messages. The FTFL is a 256-byte message that is divided into two parts: the Forward
FTFL and the Backward FTFL.
Forward FTFL
The Forward FTFL consists of bytes 0 to 127 of the FTFL message.

Description
Byte 0 is the Fault Identification field. It provides a fault
status and uses the following codes:
0000 0000: No Fault
0000 0001: Signal Fail
0000 0010: Signal Degrade
0000 0011 through 1111 1111 are reserved for future use.
Bytes 1 through 9 are used for the Operator Identifier field.
Bytes 10 through 127 are used for the Operator Specific
field.
Description
Byte 128 is the Fault Identification field. It provides a fault
