AM4022
The
AM4022 Processor card
contains the MPA's CPU and memory and Operating
System used to govern the software applications needed for testing the MPM test
modules. In systems with an MCH/AM4022 Processor combination, the AM4022
Processor supports a Mini-USB Type-A connector for USB flash drive and USB mouse
connectivity, as well as a Standard DisplayPort video connector for controlling the local
Graphical User Interface application.
AMC

removed from a rackmount MPA chassis.
ANSI
American National Standards Institute. A standards setting, non-government
organization founded in 1918, which develops and publishes standards for transmission
codes, protocols, and high-level languages for voluntary use in the United States.
APS
Automatic Protection Switching. The K1 and K2 bytes of the line overhead section of the
Synchronous Payload Envelope are reserved for APS signaling. APS commands are
those signals loaded in the K1 and K2 bytes that control the APS functions. Also see
Line Overhead
and
Synchronous Payload
Envelope.
AU
Administrative Unit. The information structure which provides adaptation between the
Higher-Order path layer and the Multiplex Section layer. The Virtual Container (VC) plus
the pointers (H1, H2, H3 bytes) is called the AU.
AU-AIS
Administrative Unit - Alarm Indication Signal (SDH only). In the Quick Status LEDs area,
an alarm LED indicating an all-ones characteristic or adapted information signal was
detected on the AU. It is generated to replace the normal traffic signal when it contains
a defect condition. This prevents consequential downstream failures being declared or
alarms being raised.
