Choose the Packet Size button (for example, 256). The Frame Loss table displays the
transmit and receive statistics for the selected packet size.
OR
Select the First, Prev, Next, or Last button to move through the frame sizes.
Important: The status message that appears at the bottom of the screen always
indicates which frame size and stream rate is currently being transmitted and not the
report statistics selected.
Saving or Printing test results:
1. The test set provides the option to save RFC Throughput, RFC Frame Loss, RFC
B2B Burst, and stream test Statistics, Settings, Event and Service Disruption
measurements to a file for access later or for immediate printing.
RFC-2544 - B2B Burst Testing
This is an RFC 2544 benchmark test. Back-to-Back Burst test is used to determine the
buffering capability of the Device Under Test (DUT). This is done by sending a burst of
frames to the unit, and then counting how many frames are forwarded by the unit.
During the test a burst of fixed length frames with the minimum inter-frame gap between
them is sent through the packet stream. The trial duration must be between 2 and 10
seconds. The RFC standard recommends (but does not required) that this trial should
be repeated at least 50 times with the average value reported.
If the unit successfully transmits all the frames that it receives, the frame burst size is
increased and the test is repeated. If this stage of the test fails, the frame burst size is
halved and the test is repeated until the unit successfully transmits the frame burst. The
default frame burst sizes used are 64, 128, 256, 512, 1024, 1280, and 1518 bytes.
A Back-to-Back Burst test cannot be performed if another RFC Test is running.
Do not activate a BERT or Packet streams while an RFC 2544 test is active.
Turning on or off a test Stream, while an RFC test is in progress, will disrupt test
results.
