Term Definitions
The K1 byte is used to indicate a request by a channel for a switch action. K1 is used by
APS (Automatic Protection Switching).
K1 Full Byte
The K1 Full byte configures the bit pattern of the K1 byte using either predefined
settings (00000000; 1010101010 - default; or 11111111 - illegal) or user defined
settings, which are set using the touch screen keypad, to set the eight bits of the K1
byte.
K2 Bits 14
In APS Linear Mode: Bits 1-4 indicate the number of the channel that is bridged onto
protection unless channel 0 is received on bits 5-8 of K1 byte, when they shall be set to
zero. In APS Ring Mode: Bits 1-4 is Source Node Identification. Source node ID is set to
the nodes own ID.
K2 Bits 5
In APS Linear Mode: 0 = provisioned for 1 + 1 mode, 1 = provisioned for 1:n mode. In
APS Ring Mode, it indicates short or long path code. 0 = Short Path Code and 1 = Long
Path Code.
K2 Bits 68
In APS Linear mode: Bits 6-8 indicate the status, such as idle, Br, Br&Sw, or Unused. In
APS Ring mode: Bits 6-8 indicate the status such as idle, Ex Tr, or L-RDI.
K2 Byte
