To intrude upon a byte:
1. Select the OTN tab.
2. Select Transmit and Set 1.
3. Verify the Passthru Mode setting is set to On.
4. Select OTN OH.
5. Select the Intrude button. The Intrude screen appears displaying byte buttons.
6. Select the button that represents the byte you want to intrude upon. The button
turns red while intruding on the byte.
The Passthru mode feature cannot be tested with the unit looped back to itself.
OTN Transmit - A/D OH (Overhead)
The A/D OH settings apply to the additional layer of overhead bytes for lower ODU rate
payloads that are multiplexed up to a higher OTU Interface rate.
The Transmit A/D OH screens become enabled when configured for a multi-level or
multi-channel ODTU Add/Drop mapping.
See the
OTN Transmit - OTN OH
Add/Drop overhead bytes.
OTN Transmit - Error Alarm
Use this screen to configure and transmit OTN errors and alarms.
The purpose of generating an error or alarm is to stress the network element that is
receiving the error or alarm by testing if it can detect the incoming error/alarm and then
report error/alarm statistics or if it can perform the appropriate actions required.
