Term Definitions
Quality of Service. When referring to VLAN, this is a 3-bit user Priority Code Point
(PCP) that sets a priority value between 0 and 7, which can be used for Quality of
Service (QoS) priority traffic delivery.
QRSS
Quasi-Random Signal Source. Transmits a modified
PRBS 20
which allows a maximum
of 14 sequential zeros and 20 sequential ones. This pattern simulates live data.
QSFP
Quad Small Form-factor Pluggable. A QSFP module is a compact, hot-pluggable
transceiver used for data and telecommunication applications, that multiplexes four (4)
data channels up to 4Gbps each, into a single channel for optical interface rates up to
16Gbps.
QSFP+
Quad Small Form-factor Pluggable + (Pronounced "QSFP plus" ). A QSFP+ module is
a compact, hot-pluggable transceiver used for data and telecommunication applications,
that multiplexes four (4) data channels up to 10Gbps each, into a single channel for
optical interface rates up to 40Gbps.
QSFP28
Quad Small Form-factor Pluggable 28. A QSFP28 module is a compact, hot-pluggable
transceiver used for data and telecommunication applications, that multiplexes four (4)
data channels up to 28Gbps each, into a single channel for optical interface rates up to
112Gbps.
Quanta
A quanta is a 512-bit timing increment used by a Pause frame. The number of quanta
(N x 512-bits) indicates the duration of the pause.
