application of the AMC cards, and the Fan Tray directly, through a backplane.
MF
Multiframe. Consists of 16 E1 frames, and broken into two SMFs. The E1 multiframe is
used for all types of framing (except unframed). Its purpose is to supply bits for CRC-4
checking, remote errors and alarms, and spare bits which can be used for signaling or
other purposes.

Multi Frame Alignment Signal
MLD
Multi-Lane Distribution. This protocol processor is used by the MPM-100G test module
to multiplex/demultiplex 10 Electrical Lanes into 20 Virtual Lanes into 4 Optical Lanes
for high speed transmission rates of 40Gbps and 100Gbps.
MPA
Multi-Protocol Analyzer
VeEX's MPA rackmount systems are a MicroTCA chassis systems used for
testing multiple telecom and datacom networks up to 400Gbps including
SONET/SDH, OTN, CPRI, GFP, Ethernet and Fibre Channel.
The MPA chassis supports up to six MPM test modules, developed by VeEX.
MPA rackmount systems are remotely accessed via an Ethernet connection,
using a Graphical User Interface, VNC, Python, and/or SCPI interface scripting
commands.
MPLS
Multiple Protocol Label Switching. A packet switching protocol developed to improve
switching speed. MPLS adds a 32-bit label to each packet to improve network efficiency
and to enable routers to direct packets along predefined routes in accordance with the
