the longer it takes to complete the test.
A Throughput test cannot be performed if another RFC Test is running.
Do not activate a BERT or Packet streams while an RFC 2544 test is active.
Turning on or off a test Stream, while an RFC test is in progress, will disrupt test
results.
To configure the Throughput test:
configure the Frame Loss test:
1. Select RFC Tests and choose Conf.
2. Select Stream ID and choose the packet stream (1 - 32) for the Frame Loss test.
3. Select Trial Duration and set the duration of the test.
4. Select Dest Port and choose the port that will receive the test signal.
5. Select BW Ceiling to set the high-end of the bandwidth test range. The RFC test
will not exceed the setting. Valid values are 1.1 – 100.
IMPORTANT: The minimum delta between the ceiling and floor setting is 1. For
example, if the BW Floor is set to 9, then the BW Ceiling must be set to 10, or
greater.
6. Select BW Floor to set the low-end of the bandwidth test range. The RFC test
will not exceed the setting. Valid values are .01 – 99.
IMPORTANT: The minimum delta between the ceiling and floor setting is 1.
For example, if the BW Ceiling is set to 10, then the BW Floor must be set to 9,
or lower.
7. Choose the Packet Sizes to use for the test by selecting its Enable/Disable
check box. You can use standard packet sizes for the test or assign a user-
defined packet size(s).
To assign a user-defined frame size:
a. Select a Packet Size button (for example, 64). A keypad appears.
b. Enter a new value and select OK. Value ranges are 64 - 9600.
c. To return frame sizes to default settings, select the Restore to RFC
Standard Settings.
8. Select Thru Put from the tabs along the left side of the RFC Tests screen.
9. Select Accept Lost Rate and enter an acceptable packet loss rate ranging from
0% to 100%. This value serves as a threshold. The default rate is 0%, which
means that even one lost packet is a failure.
10. Select Resolution Rate, and enter a value ranging from 1% to 100%. The lower
the rate, the more precise the measurement. The default rate is 1%.
To start the Throughput test:
– Sets the level of precision for the test. The finer the resolution,
