IMPORTANT: The minimum delta between the ceiling and floor setting is 1. For
example, if the BW Floor is set to 9, then the BW Ceiling must be set to 10, or
greater.
6. Select BW Floor to set the low-end of the bandwidth test range. The RFC test
will not exceed the setting. Valid values are .01 – 99.
IMPORTANT: The minimum delta between the ceiling and floor setting is 1.
For example, if the BW Ceiling is set to 10, then the BW Floor must be set to 9,
or lower.
7. Choose the Packet Sizes to use for the test by selecting its Enable/Disable
check box. You can use standard packet sizes for the test or assign a user-
defined packet size(s).
To assign a user-defined frame size:
a. Select a Packet Size button (for example, 64). A keypad appears.
b. Enter a new value and select OK. Value ranges are 64 - 9600.
c. To return frame sizes to default settings, select the Restore to RFC
Standard Settings.
8. Select Frame Loss from the tabs along the left side of the RFC Tests screen.
To start the Frame Loss test:
1. Select Start Test. Once the test begins, this button toggles to Stop Test.
2. The unit immediately starts transmitting a test stream at 10% of the maximum
byte-size rate. When multiple frame sizes are selected, the transmission starts at
the lowest size.
A status message appears at the bottom of the screen indicating the current
frame size and stream rate that is being transmitted. For example, Processing
size 64 Rate 10.00. When this completes, the number of frames transmitted and
the number of frames received appears in the Frame Loss table. This process
continues until 100% of the maximum byte-size rate is reached (at 10%
increments).
After transmitting at 100%, the entire test is repeated using the next larger frame
size, for example, 128, 256, 512, 1024, 1280, and 1518 bytes.
3. View Frame Loss test results on the
The table displays the frame loss test results for a specified packet size. The
results represent the nine rates determined by the BW Ceiling and BW Floor
settings.
